Toluene

Toluene is a clear, water-insoluble liquid with a characteristic paint thinner smell. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon widely used as an industrial feedstock and as a solvent. Toluene is mainly used as a precursor to benzene. It is a common solvent used to dissolve paints, silicone sealants, adhesives and printing ink. It can also be used as an octane booster in gasoline fuels.
