Sodium Bicarbonate

Sodium bicarbonate was first produced in 1846 and has been widely used ever since. It is used in baking where it reacts with other components to release carbon dioxide to help make dough rise. It is used in an aqueous solution as an antacid to treat acid indigestion and heartburn. It is also used as a fire extinguisher, deodorant, cleaning agent, biopesticide, cattle feed supplement, and paint remover.
