Growth Rate of 56 Percent Lands Bethlehem Company on Inc. Magazine's Exclusive List.
BETHLEHEM, PA (August 12, 2009)--What does Bethlehem-based Puritan Products, Inc. have in common with well-known national companies like Vizio and GoDaddy? Inc. magazine included all three on its third annual "Inc. 5000" list of America's fastest growing private companies.
Inc. 5000 project manager Jim Melloan said, "Savvy trend spotters and those who invest in private companies know that the Inc. 5000 is the best place to find out about young companies that are achieving success through a wide variety of unprecedented business models, as well as older private companies that are still expanding at an impressive rate. That's why our list is so eagerly anticipated every year."
"We are extremely pleased to learn that our company's three-year sales growth rate of 56 percent has earned us a position on the prominent Inc. 5000 list this year," said Lou DiRenzo, president and general manager of Puritan Products, noting that the company ranks 227th among U.S. manufacturers. "More importantly, inclusion in this elite group provides well-deserved recognition to the management and employees of our 22-year-old company. It validates that their commitment and dedication to our new vision is paying off and attracting positive attention and visibility to their organization."
Puritan Products, Inc. is a manufacturer of high-purity, custom-formulated and specialty chemicals. These products are used in research and quality control laboratories, universities, and for manufacturing in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, microelectronics and other industrial markets. Four years ago, the management and employees of Puritan Products set out to reinvent the organization, and committed to substantially grow its market presence by providing precision custom-formulated materials to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. To prepare for future growth, the company is working toward FDA compliance by implementing cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) - which it expects to achieve later this year.
The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2005 through 2008. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2005. Additionally, they must be U.S. based, privately held, for profit and independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2008. Revenue in 2005 must have been at least $200,000, and revenue in 2008 must have been at least $2 million.
