PA-DEP Permitted Air Emission Abatement System
The air emission abatement system is comprised of an acid fume scrubber which is a packed tower with a fan and mist eliminator section. The ammonia scrubber is a two-stage scrubber with an eductor-venturi and a packed tower and mist eliminator. A carbon-bed adsorption unit is used to remove air emissions for operations that generate organic hazardous air pollutants. Cyclone dust collectors, bag house filters, and HEPA (High Efficiency Purified Air)-hoods are used to control particulates in the work environment.

PA-DEP Permitted Elementary Neutralization System
The elementary neutralization system is made up of two (2) 1,600-gallon neutralization tanks, a central collection sump, peripheral floor sumps and trenches, and associated transfer pumps and piping.

Puritan designed and constructed all chemical processing areas within dikes. The floor drains in these areas are tied to a central collection sump that is constructed of three (3) chemical-impervious liners. All spills and tank and container rinses are transferred to one of two neutralization tanks where the pH is adjusted and laboratory analyses are conducted prior to release to the local Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW). There is no possibility of unauthorized materials reaching the POTW. All effluent from the facility must flow through the elementary neutralization system.

Spill and Vapor Monitoring Systems
Puritan operates and maintains spill and chemical vapor sensors in all process areas that are continuously monitored by an outside service 24-hours a day. These strategically located sensors are interlocked with passive and active spill-control systems that will activate an alarm and initiate the transfer of hazardous materials to a chemical-compatible 10,000-gallon tank for further treatment and disposal.

Video Surveillance System
