Puritan History

Puritan Products, Inc. is a privately held company that was established in 1987. The Puritan Products name was based on the notion that the products supplied would be of high purity and the business would be governed with integrity to its employees and customers.

Operations began in Easton, Pennsylvania, a town bordered by both the Lehigh and Delaware Rivers. At this facility 90% nitric acid was manufactured and packaged. This product facilitated Puritan to be recognized as a producer of dangerous chemicals from which most chemical manufacturers shy away. In addition, reagent grade acids were purified and packaged.

Growth of the business necessitated a move to a larger facility located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It was at this facility where the manufacture of red fuming nitric acid was begun; further entrenching Puritan in the fuming acid business niche. The acid line was expanded to include a greater variety of acids and to include both SEMI grade for the microelectronics industry and ACS grade for the laboratory and general manufacturing sectors. The product line also expanded to include SEMI and reagent grade solvents. Custom blending formulations were introduced during the eight years this facility was occupied. To facilitate the custom blending operations, specialized equipment was designed and constructed in-house.

In 1998 Puritan Products relocated to its current facility located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This facility serves as the corporate headquarters and is the only location of Puritan Products. At 50,000 square feet, this facility opened up more opportunities for accelerated growth. Bulk blending and storage tanks for a variety of laboratory and process chemicals were added. Semi-automated packaging lines were introduced for a variety of products including the proprietary formulations that we manufacture. Several customer dedicated processing systems have been designed and installed for our microelectronics customers.
